About Me
Hi! My name is Tori Kober and welcome to my new and improved blog!
What I do:
I am a general music teacher in IL, and I am also a part-time specialist at an Apple Store retail location in the Illinois suburbs. These two jobs keep me pretty busy, and I am grateful for the supportive friends and coworkers I have that help me throughout the year!
Where I come from and why I teach music:
I graduated in 2018 from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in Music Education, with a focus in instrumental music.
For my entire life, I’ve been very involved in music. My primary instrument is the French Horn and my secondary is Trumpet. I was very heavily involved in instrumental ensembles throughout my school career, especially in college. I performed with Olivet’s marching band, wind ensemble, orchestra, and several other ensembles on both Horn and Trumpet.
Music has always been an outlet for me, and I am incredibly grateful to all of my music teachers throughout my life, especially to my dad, who encouraged my love of music from birth! I love to be able to share my love of music with all of my students.
Despite music being an outlet, I have found lately that it is feeling more and more like a hobby, and less and less like a career. I have decided to work towards a degree in Library Sciences in order to become a junior high or high school librarian. The idea of creating a safe space for students to explore reading, books, and technology is amazing, and I can’t wait for that goal to become a reality!
Random Fun Facts:
I have 3 SCUBA certifications and don’t get to use them enough
I am an Enneagram Type 6, and love discussing Enneagram Types with people
I have a collection of about 250 books, including a 40 book collection of leather-bound classics from Barnes & Noble
I was accepted into Mensa in 2020, and am an official member
I have worked for Apple for a month longer than I have been teaching
I have a Diet Coke problem
