Institutional Technology Plan
The Institutional Technology Plan was the final assignment that I worked on for this course. As of writing this blog post, I have yet to complete the final portion of this project, which is to make and narrate a presentation about this plan, but I have completed the written portion of this project, which I have attached the bottom of this blog post. This is definitely the most detailed and largest assignment I have done for this course!
This assignment was definitely a challenge to get started! I had been confused initially on what I was supposed to be doing, but eventually learned what needed to be done. I started with a basic plan provided by my instructor, and was able to use a template on Pages to write out, change, and make the plan my own.
This project was large, and took several weeks to complete. It involved a lot of thinking and planning ahead for what I would envision a school technology environment to be. I used one of the elementary schools I teach at as my example school, because I understand the enthusiasm of those teachers to learn and grow much better than the teachers at some of my other schools. I have never seen a more dedicated group of educators, and I designed this plan with their dedication and enthusiasm in mind!
This assignment required me to consider several different things my students and fellow educators would need to be able to be successful and to work successful in a safe and secure technology environment. I had to consider needs for students with varying needs, and I believe one of the best ways to do this is to encourage recommendations from the educators that work with those students most often. By allowing those educators an avenue to make recommendations and requests, I am allowing them to find very specific softwares or hardwares that would benefit their students, to fill out a request with their reasoning, and make it a part of the program design to respond to these requests quickly and efficiently.
All-in-all, this project forced me to think long term and big picture, and to make considerations for several different aspects within the management of instructional technology services.
